I understand your value, I just don’t have the money to pay you.
I hear this from up and coming #SaaS leaders regularly.
It’s rarely true though.
They do, it’s just that they’re focused on their technology, spending tens of thousands of dollars on developers somewhere.
They’re like a hamster on a wheel, continually running forward but never really getting anywhere.
Time, energy and scant resources spent chasing an imaginary future that feels like it’s just out of reach.
Of course, they’re not the first, and they most certainly won’t be the last, and I’ve felt the same with my work.
And you know what?
IT’S EXHAUSTING!
But what I’ve found is that if I stop running I can catch my breath.
I can take the time to rest and recuperate.
I can take stock of where I am.
I can focus my resources finding the right path forward.
But if I keep on running down the path, spinning the wheel faster and faster, I’m just doing the same thing over and over again.
And as the old wisdom says, if we keep repeating the same action, expecting a different result…
IT’S THE FIRST SIGN OF MADNESS!
If any of this feels familiar, perhaps it’s time for a Sanity Check.
Mine will cost you less than a few days’ development.
